Lickeen Trout Anglers Fishing in the Burren North Clare Ireland

Trout Fishing at Lickeen and Andy's Lake

250-acre Lickeen Lake provides drinking water to North Clare and lies on the southern edge of the Burren outside Kilfenora. Set among rolling green countryside, it offers the best fly fishing in the area, holding wild brown trout up to 5lbs and some stocked rainbows up to 6-7 lbs. Mostly fished from boats but with access to shore fishing at the western and eastern ends of the lake. Alternatively, there are specimen trout in 6-acre Andy's Lake at Lickeen east, fishable from platform or boat.
The lakes are managed under licence by local members of Lickeen Trout Anglers' Cooperative and restocked at regular intervals throughout the season.
